World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. It is the largest global awareness campaign by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Ear and Hearing care that calls for action to address hearing loss. Every year, we organize various programs to create awareness on Ear care and Prevention of hearing loss in order to sensitize different sections of the society especially for young people either in an auditorium or public places across the city.
Anwesha Kolkata was given “Swami Nityananda Memorial Award for Nar Narayan Seva – 2019″ under the institutional category by Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission, Barrackpore on 15th January 2020. Ms.Snigdha Sarkar, President, Anwesha Kolkata received the prestigious award from Prof.Tathagata Roy, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya.
THE STATE LEVEL PARENTS MEET and FAMILY DAY were celebrated together with great fervour by Anwesha Kolkata and Pratidhwani WB in collaboration with AYJNISHD- ERC on 14th December, Saturday, 2019 at Bishop’s College, Beck Bagan Kolkata. Around 400 people including deaf children, young adults, their parents and families from different districts of West Bengal actively participated in the event along with guests
Anwesha Kolkata represents GPODHH ( Global Coalition of Parents of Children who are Deaf or HOH in 1st Assembly of World Hearing Forum, WHO on Dec 4 & 5 2019 at Geneva. WHO is taking initiatives to promote advocacy through the Forum along with the technical work that they do.
